She is of Swiss and French descent and is multilingual. Earlier in her career, Colette received a Handels Diploma from a Business College in Zurich and worked in an agentís capacity for well known, Italian fashion houses. Her extensive experience in the fashion industry has ensured a solid foundation for her achievements in Interior Design. In 1994, Colette invested in a country house hotel in Suffolk. This presented her first challenge to make design decisions with commercial impact. Working with a limited budget she took many of the existing features, fixtures and fittings, and by adding subtle changes was able to create a new look. The result was effective which was confirmed by returning guests. In 1996 Colette was rewarded the Johansesn Award for Excellence. In 2001 Colette graduated from the Regent Academy of Fine Arts with a City & Guilds certificate and a Diploma in Successful Interior Design.
